I wish you were still with me,

hiding in my pillow case,

running so fast,

so fast,

over,

under and across our agility toys.

I wish I could see you at the top of the stairs,

cocking your head to the side and giving me your paw,

running down the hall at night

and showing me your belly

so I will carry you outside for your last "relief."

Sleeping in my armpit,

growling and barking at any dog who came too close

when you were on my lap,

in my arms.

Always my clown, always my girl.

Visions of you leap through my dreams as I sit here awake,

looking as you always did in life;

eyes sparkling, teasing, laughing.

In your unavoidable passing,

I had to gather you in my arms,

lifeless and still.

I put you to sleep in the back,

next to my garden,

under the trees.

I fill your space with flowers,

stone and tears.

Simon, your forever friend,

hunts for you,

nose to ground,

pleading with me

"Where is she? "

"Where did she go?"

"I can't find her."

In my heart

please come when I call ~ be by my side again.

My Candy Girl..my only girl.
